as well as yourself, this is for you!
Rock Witch
Materials Needed:p;
Rocks
Strong glue, like Tacky glue,
Acrylic paints in assorted colors, to your needs
Newspaper
Paint brushes
Yarn or string for hair
Step One:
Go Rock Hunting
Since the craft is made from rocks, this is the key activity and depending on
the rocks that you choose, will give your finished product it's own personality.
If you're making a witch, decide what you want her to look like and then look
for rocks that will accomplish the idea. First find the rock for her body and
follow with the rocks for the hands, feet and head. You will be gluing them
together but you still want the rocks to fit together well. You can even make
the hat with rocks if you want, or use felt. I made my witch hat with felt and
made the hair out of string.

Step Two:
Wash the Rocks
Wash and scrub the rocks completely and allow them to dry completely.
Step Three:
Glue the rocks together
When you have your rocks exactly as you want them, glue them into place. It
may be necessary to prop them up with something to hold them into place during
the drying process. Allow the glue to dry completely before proceeding. If when
the glue is dry, it won't stand up, find a thick piece of cardboard or wood to
glue the witch to, to stabilize it.
Step Four:
Paint your witch
After placing newspaper on the surface for protection, paint the witch with
the acrylic paints. This may have to be done in stages by letting one paint
color dry before moving on to another color.
Step Five:
Add the final details
Glue on hair and added accessories using your creativity and imagination.
Pumpkin
The Pumpkin is much easier to make. When looking for rocks,
choose a rock the size and shape you want your pumpkin to be. Next, find a rock
for the stem.
Follow the directions above for the creation of your rock pumpkin.
I made these with my oldest children, about 30 years ago and they are still
just as nice as when we made them. The witch does have to be re-glued ever few
years but the pumpkin has been dropped and it still looking good.
It makes for a fun craft that will bring back memories of working together,
as the years go on.
